Mike Wallace is the chief executive of Greenback Expat Tax Services, where he sets the growth strategy and the flat-fee pricing on which the company is built on. He has led the company since 2023. Greenback has ranked on the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies four times, most recently at No. 3,278 on the 2026 list with 90% three-year revenue growth.

Mike lived in seven countries over twenty years and filed U.S. returns from every one of them. He writes from that experience: how a move abroad changes a filing year, what filing from a treaty country looks like against one without a treaty, and how to judge whether a preparer knows expat work.

He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and he leads a team of expat-expert CPAs and IRS Enrolled Agents across the company’s federal, state, FBAR, and small-business filing work.
